Crochet Pullover Pattern
Oh Snow Day Sweater, one of my all time favorites! The perfect pullover for a crisp day! Perfect for anything from brisk Fall evenings to snowy Winter days, this pullover is both cute and cozy. It’s a great easy pattern. It contains 2-4 inches of positive ease, so it’s a little oversized without being overwhelming. I also really love the mock-neck turtleneck because it looks so stylish and sleek to me.
I settled on “Snow Day Sweater” as the name for this design because the day my sister-in-law and I took photos, there was a big snow storm! We deiced to capitalize on that good fortune and take our photos in the snow, and it was one of the most fun days ever. It reminded of being in elementary school when I was younger and finding out I had a day off from school because of a snow storm. My siblings and I would end up playing in the snow all day and then come inside exhausted and warm up with some hot chocolate. This photo shoot made me nostalgic for those days, so I hope this sweater reminds you of all the fun snow days you’ve had in your life too!

Yarn
The yarn I used for this pattern is my FAVORITE Lion Brand Yarn of all time. It’s Lion Brand Jeans in the colorway Topstitch. This yarn is super soft and durable, which is why it’s a 10/10 in my mind. The ONLY qualm I have about it is it has a tendency to split a tiny bit, but compared to other yarns, the splitting is incredibly minor in my mind. So if you haven’t tried this yarn, I highly recommend it. I used it for both the Snow Day Sweater and the Ava Cardigan (which is a #1 fan favorite, so definitely check out the Ava Cardigan if you haven’t already!). I really love the color because it’s a great neutral that has a lot of depth to it. It’s an “exciting” neutral color that looks great on everyone!

Crochet Hook & Stitches
To make this crochet pullover, I used one of my old reliable Furls Streamline hooks. Specifically, I used a 5.5mm Streamline Resin Hook in the colorway “Cafe”. These hooks have thick grips that prevent hand cramps so you can throw on Netflix, light a candle, and blast out hours of crochet without having to take a break. They also look lovely too! (Check out this post I did on Furls Crochet hooks to find out more information on why I think they’re fabulous!)
The stitch used for this sweater is something I call “Etched Ridges”. Basically, you alternate rows of half double crochet and slip stitch. These are super easy stitches, and together they create a beautiful, thick fabric. The slip stitches can be a little difficult to work in to, because they tend to get super tight. However, I find that Furls crochet hooks makes this process SO MUCH EASIER. So if you are working on this pattern, or a pattern similar to this one where the stitches can lean towards being a little tight, I highly recommend trying a Furls hook to make your life a little easier!

Hope everyone has a magical, snowy, adventure-filled winter! I hope you love the Snow Day Sweater pattern!

Jessica
