Easy Crochet Cardigan Inspiration
It’s hard getting up and getting out of bed during the fall months. It’s still dark out and it’s so much cozier under the covers when its cold outside. The nice part, however, is that if you are a late riser like me, you’re once again able to catch the sunrise after missing it all summer. Plus that first cup of coffee is even more satisfying with temperatures in the 40s and 50s. The Autumn Sunrise Cardigan is an homage to those fall mornings where you need to start remembering to leave the house with a jacket again.
Perfect for a crisp morning, this cozy cardigan was made with We Are Knitters The Petite Wool yarn. It is made with high quality Peruvian wool and is nice and thick. I choose the wine color, because its sumptuous tone made me think of a stroll through a small town with cute shops and fall foliage (shout out to Lititz, Wayne, and all of the other wonderful villages around Pennsylvania!).
Stitches and Hook
To balance out the wintery thickness of this yarn, I designed the weave of the pattern to be breathable and almost lacey. It may look complicated, but it is actually one of my most beginner-friendly patterns ever! If you have literally never made a sweater before, this is the place to start. It is just the same three rows repeated over and over for the entire pattern. I added four buttons to the front to add some character and complement the look of the cardigan itself. I crocheted this project with my Furls Streamline Resin hook in the perfect-for-fall Café colorway. You can read all about the awesome benefits of Furls hooks here.
The Autumn Sunrise cardigan pairs effortlessly with a casual black dress or jeans with some nice leather boots. If you have a fun fall hat, it will really pop with this sweater too. Or just throw it on over your pajamas on these cold, early mornings because there is no wrong way to wear a cardigan this cute.
P.S. I absolutely LOVE seeing your makes! If you make any Herr Stitches patterns, then tag me and then I’ll share them!
