Inspiration behind the Easy Knit Sweater Pattern for Beginners
Being from Philly, the Jersey Shore is my go-to destination for fun and relaxation in the summer months…and the winter months too. Have you ever seen snow on the beach? (It’s weird.) I go to the Shore for New Year’s Eve every year, where Sea Isle City has their NYE fireworks at 8pm. Supposedly, it’s so the kids don’t have to stay up late, but I think it’s so the adults have plenty of time to break out the cocktails afterwards!
The Shore has inspired a lot of my designs, and the Sea Isle Sweater is perhaps the most direct product of that inspiration. This beginner knit pullover is constructed with Lion Brand Yarn Truboo in white, lilac, and mint, colors that invoke images of saltwater taffy and classic beach houses. It is a breezy DK weight 3 yarn that is very soft and shiny.
Knit Stitches & Needles
The best part? The Sea Isle Sweater is super easy to make, making use of a single beginner stitch, the stockinette stitch. This simple stitch perfectly showcases the beauty of the yarn itself. To create this lovely garment, I used a set of Knitpicks Interchangeable Needles. Their metal construction allows the yarn to glide effortlessly, and the interchangeable design saves you trips to the craft store.
The novice-friendly and straightforward Sea Isle Sweater pattern will amaze you with its results. Featuring a breathable knit construction and Jersey Shore-inspired colors, this light and comfortable pullover is ideal for nights on the beach (or January days on the beach).
